Let’s Go Karting is being funded by the Motor Sports Association the governing body of UK motor sport to provide karts, equipment and instructors at locations throughout the UK. The scheme will enable young people to experience the thrills of karting without having to make the financial commitment of purchasing their own equipment. The nominal charge of just £5 per person makes it accessible to any person, from any background. From Age 6 to 60 years of age.

Get your Competition Licence
Before you can enter races you will need to complete your drivers test
called Arks test (Association of Racing Kart Schools) which is a
requirement of the Motor Sports Association (MSA).

You need to purchase your MSA karting pack from Susan McCutcheon or
The MSA web site at www.msauk.org click on ‘’Getting Started’’ then click on ‘’Karting’’.
At the bottom of the page you will find the link to order you pack.
This pack will cost you £44.00 (2009 price) and includes your forms, DVD, regulations and year book etc which is full of advise on driving techniques.
Choose a class to race in.
Depending on your age etc you will need to pick a karting class to compete in. You can visit our web site at www.ulsterkartingclub.co.uk/classes where you will find a description on each class and the age requirements etc. Make a visit to a race event where you can see each class for yourself and talk to the competitors who race them.
You can also ask one of our let’s go karting team for advise on which class is right for you.
How to race (2 options).
1. Purchase your own kart and tools etc to look after yourself on race day with some guidance form our Let’s go karting team and fellow competitors in the paddock.
2. Contact one of the race teams who attend Nutts Corner Circuit and speak to them about the costs involved for their personal equipment and guidance.

Race Number
You will also require a racing number to be displayed on your kart. These race numbers can be purchased for £10.00 a year from the NIKA rep Keith Wilkinson on 07779 115414 who can advise you on what numbers are available in each class.
Buying a Kart and Equipment
Before purchasing any equipment we advise you to contact some of our let’s go karting team who will be more than happy to give you advice on which equipment and karts are right for you.

What happen’s on race day?
The first step to enter a race is to send in your race entry form and fee which must be received five days before the event. This race entry form can be found on our web site at www.ulsterkartingclub.co.uk/race_entry_form .You can either pay online or post a cheque to the address listed on the entry form.
Step 1.
On race day you must sign on which and make sure your paper work is in order. You will be issued with a scrutineering card which you must fill in. You will also be issued with a dummy grid pass to allow you entry in that area.
Step 2.
Bring your Kart, helmet, race suit boots and gloves for inspection by the Scrutineers with your completed Scrutineering card given to you at signing on. All your equipment will be safety checked.
Step 3.
You must attend drivers briefing (driver and parent if you are a junior) where you will be briefed on safety and racing issues.

Step 4.
Make your way to the dummy grid when called. Take your grid position for your practice session and race heats.
Step 5.
On finishing your heats you will be weighted and your kart checked to ensure it meets the legal racing requirements.
Step 6.
Attend prize giving to collect your trophy after the final’s are finished.
